A Few Facts About Solar Lights
With the increasing demand for energy, many people are looking for ways on how they can harness energy from the sun. Solar energy is free and a renewable source of energy and it uses no carbon fuels which create pollution. Solar energy is typically used in solar lighting and is widely used in homes and business establishments. The owners won’t have any problems if a power outage might occur because solar lights have their own built-in battery as power source.
The greatest advantage of solar lights is that you don’t have to worry about your electricity bill. That’s why most people invest in solar lights because they consider it to be a good long-term investment for their energy needs. Solar lighting can be a bit expensive and this is due to the fact that the solar cells are somewhat expensive to produce.
Solar lights must have three basic components in order to function properly. First, there is the solar panel that contains the solar cells. Solar cells absorb the sun’s energy and convert it into electrical energy. In order to gain optimum efficiency to gather sunlight, the solar cells must be positioned directly to the sun and placed in an area where there is no shade.
The second component is the battery. The battery is where the electrical energy is stored and is the power source of the lights. During daytime, the batteries are charged by the electrical energy from the solar cells. It may take several hours to completely charge the battery, at which case it also depends on the battery’s storage capacity.
The third component is the light bulb. These light bulbs are known as light emitting diodes or LEDs. It is commonly used in solar lighting because these types of light bulbs consume very little energy and produces less heat. LED lights are also cheaper and have a very long life span.
